Score

You can see the music for the solo part using  Show Solo Part from the Options menu.  You should refer to this score to know the details of M+O's  understanding of your piece.  Even if you intend to play from a different score, or from no score at all, you should consult this document to resolve ambiguities.   For instance,  the printed score can clarify
  • what bar number is associated with a certain measure.  This may differ from other scores due to cuts, consecutive numbering through movements, as well other reasons.
  • what you are supposed to do in case of a cadenza.  Sometimes M+O provides explict cadenzas, while other times they are left out.
  • differences due to adaptations of thie piece from the are adaptated from their original context.
  • any cuts that M+O expects you to take.

M+O also has an internal score to each piece  giving it the notes and rhythms of the composition.  M+O's understands all music in terms of measured notes, so any grace notes, or other ornaments have been explicitly notated rhythmically.  For instance, we have made a decision if a grace note is to be played on or before the beat, or whether you "finish" your trills with sixteenths, 32nds, or not at all.  Most often you will not need to know about these details.  However, you can always see what's in M+O's score in Rehearsal Review, since the position of each note, in Measure Number Plus Offset format, is given in the Status Bar

In creating our internal score we have tried to make interpretations or ornaments that will agree those of practicing musicians.  Even when players interpret such ornaments differently than represented by our internal score, the resulting behavior of the program is usually very much the same.
